You finally reach 40 and you finally “get it”… The moment when you realize a few things like the following:
- “I really don’t care what other people think about me, at least those that don’t know me.”
- “I need to figure out what to do next with my life.”
- “Is this where life begins? Time to live!”
- “40 really is the new 30 and now 50 is the new 40”
- “A new chapter is beginning, time to turn the page!”
If you don’t already have some sort of an outlet you will start trying to figure it out. You will have several ideas and if you’re good you will try them all to see which one is most satisfying. But, don’t fret if you continue to vet these ideas through your brain and still don’t come up with a solid because this may go on for a few years. It’s ok, just make yourself take a stand and pick something and commit to it because the earth is rotating…
You get to a point where you feel like you are having a midlife crisis…relax…you are not. We come to different realizations in our life over time. It’s ok…what I suggest is that you hone in on something that you enjoy doing and/or something you have always wanted to do but maybe haven’t been able to commit.
When a woman is independent and often the breadwinner as many of us are, you want to look to do something that you enjoy, a hobby, a sport, travel, etc. First, pick something attainable…Scuba diving is my Zen however, I am too land locked so that is not a good outlet/hobby for me to truly enjoy regularly. So, what do I look into now…well, I used to ice skate, dance and musical theater. Do I look at getting back to those? Perhaps but my knees are horrible so I need to be realistic here as well. So, what do I try to do regularly…workout, photography, shop and travel!
